Health and fitness can be achieved rightly by adopting and following the right tips which can also help you save time.

The above quote highlights the fact that we cannot take our health for granted. A healthy lifestyle can bring about many positive changes in our life due to the power they hold. In today’s modern life, we all have a busy schedule due to our work, commuting and home responsibilities. This makes it difficult to find out time for our health and fitness. However, it should be understood that our health should not be neglected and made our top priority. The proven benefits of staying healthy and fit are innumerable. It is important that our body gets all the care it can to remain productive physically and mentally.

Staying healthy and fit while being busy feels like a task. Most of us feel that we need to invest a lot of time to stay healthy and fit. Therefore, we are unable to figure out how to achieve our fitness goals. But first, we need to understand that in order to remain healthy we neither need to bring about big lifestyle changes nor do we require a lot of time. All we need is to incorporate some small healthy practices into our lives and carry out forward planning. This will help us a lot in our journey of health and fitness. Further, staying healthy and fit is not only about exercising. In addition to exercise there are other ways too which we can adapt to remain healthy. Here are some tips that I would like to share with you which can make health and fitness possible for busy people too:

Making time and finding ways to exercise

When we think of exercise, the first thing that comes into our mind is vigorous training in the gym. But that’s not the case. You can simply start by being more active daily by adopting certain habits in our life. This could include preferably taking the stairs over the elevator and standing and moving your body after every half an hour when sitting at your desk. The main aim is to prevent sitting for long periods and keeping your body in motion.

Next, we should focus on which exercise routine suits our body and lifestyle. Then, we must take out at least half an hour for it daily and stick to it with full dedication. It’s important that we set realistic exercise goals in our life and stick to it. Once we get adapted to exercise in our daily routine then we will see that it is not as difficult as we thought it to be. We will also realize the health benefits that it brings.

I personally like following Floating Yoga School (https://www.youtube.com/user/SanDiegoPaddleYoga) for yoga videos which bring about a lot of energy and positivity in me.  Also, I follow Leslie Sansone’s Walk at Home videos on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/user/walkathomemedia) for walking and fat burning exercises. Her videos involve walking along with body moves that are not complicated and make me feel refreshed and energized. On both these channels, you can find 30-45 minute guided videos that I felt could be done easily at home. All you need is to take out 30-45 minutes from your daily routine to become fit. It is best for those people who cannot find time to go to the gym every day.

Make your workouts more enjoyable

When we consider exercise as just a routine job, there will surely come a time when we will get bored. This will also make it difficult for us to move out of our comfort zone to make time for exercise. Hence, we need to find ways to make our workouts more interesting and enjoyable. First, it is important to follow an exercise routine that we enjoy. For example, I mainly do yoga as it brings a lot of calmness to me. Also, it is something that I enjoy doing. However, just enjoying an exercise routine is not sufficient and we need to make it more interesting to follow it.

This can be achieved by finding a friend to exercise with, which will bring more motivation and more fun. You can also join classes that focus on new ways of exercising such as Zumba, pilates, aerobics or kickboxing. Here we can meet new people and make new friends that will make exercise an interesting routine. Other ways can include tracking your exercise progress by jotting down your exercise details in a journal or by integrating a fitness challenge in your routine to measure how far you have progressed. When you start to track your exercises, you will have a goal in your mind to set a record of not breaking your exercise routine for a long time. This will motivate you to do daily exercise and workouts.

Stay hydrated

Staying hydrated is important for our overall health and wellness and for maintaining the proper function of all body systems. Many times it happens so that we become so busy with our day to day tasks that we forget to drink water. This takes a huge toll on our overall health. I have experienced this many times but now I make sure that I drink enough water daily. The benefits of staying hydrated are many and water is the best way to stay hydrated. Besides, many fruits and vegetables are available which we can incorporate in our diet that contains a huge percentage of water. 

Our body requires a daily intake of 3-4 liters of water to remain healthy. There are many ways that can help us ensure that we stay hydrated. This includes the consumption of more fruits and vegetables, setting a reminder on your phone or watch that will prompt you to drink water regularly or keeping a water bottle always handy so that you drink water easily wherever and whenever you want.

Stock your fridge and pantry with healthy foods

When we start to keep our fridge and pantry stocked with healthy foods, we will realize that cooking healthy meals can be accomplished easily. However, we need to keep in mind that we completely avoid stocking processed or ready to eat foods. Instead, we should focus on stocking high fiber whole grains. This can include quinoa, brown rice, oats, etc. Also, we can stock different varieties of fruits and vegetables, nuts and dried fruits and some healthy snacks such as seed mix, multigrain mix, and crackers. When our fridge and pantry are stocked with healthy foods, it will ensure that we eat something healthy to satisfy our mid-meal hunger pangs. This will help to remove out our dependency on junk foods which are not good for our health.

Eliminate bad habits from your life

Howsoever busy we are in our lives, one thing we always need to remember is that health comes first. There are ways we can stay healthy and fit in addition to just focusing on our diet and exercise. This includes eliminating and removing certain bad habits in our life. I agree that habits are hard to eliminate but bad habits can have detrimental effects on our life in the long term. This can include drinking, smoking, being lazy, addiction for junk food, excessive coffee intake, skipping meals and the list is endless.

From my personal experience, I feel that it is important to identify what factor triggers the bad habit to overcome them. Also, it is important to find a good habit that can replace the bad one and provide a similar satisfaction. For example, I had a habit of eating chocolates whenever I felt stressed. But now I have inculcated listening to soft music or doing meditation in my routine to deal with stress rather than eating chocolates.

Connecting with nature and appreciating its beauty can help us more in eliminating bad habits from our life

Ensure you get adequate sleep at night

Getting adequate sleep at night every day can do wonders for your health and wellbeing. Lack of sleep can leave us feeling irritable and not being able to give our best in what we do. However, these are superficial consequences and a lack of sleep can result in intense outcomes as well. This includes the increased risk of health conditions that includes heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and reduced lifespan. Therefore, a night of good quality sleep is necessary for our body to function properly and for us to remain healthy and fit. Try to keep regular sleeping hours and get about 7-8 hours of sleep every night. 

To keep ourselves healthy and fit in the long run, it is important that we in addition to exercise are in total control of the lifestyle choices that we make. This is a process that will take time and will happen eventually. So, we need to just motivate ourselves initially and not be disappointed when we feel that we still have a long way to go. With time we will start to get better and also enjoy the benefits that health and fitness bring into our lives.
